Postdoctoral Research Abroad Program

National Science Council, R.O.C. (Taiwan)

Introduction

The Postdoctoral Research Abroad Program, sponsored by the National Science Council (NSC) of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), is intended to subsidize Taiwanese postdoctoral researchers to conduct research at an accredited educational institute abroad for one year. The goal of this program is to encourage participants to gain international experience, to promote their research training and pave the way for future international collaborations.

Eligibility

■ The applicant must be a citizen of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and under the age of 45.

■ The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from a domestic college or university, and must have received his or her Ph.D. degree from a domestic or foreign university within the past five years.

■ This grant is not available to full-time teachers, researchers, or technicians on regular payroll at domestic colleges or universities, public research institutes, or NSC-sponsored teaching hospitals.

Award

■ The grant amount is about 40,000 US dollars (1,300,000 NT dollars) for one year.

■ The grant period starts from the date of arrival at the host institute, and after the signing of the binding contract.

■ Due to fund limitations, only the grant recipients themselves rather than the institutes or advisors will be subsidized by the National Science Council.

■ During the recipient’s stay, all office space and related equipment for research shall be provided by the institutes or advisors.
